Dear Surfers,

When we first contemplated upon publishing The Hip there were many hindrances. And it was unfortunate because those hindrances were men who did not believe in the power of fashion. There are two types of people who cannot be helped. One, with a conservative bent of mind and the other, the ignorant one. To most people The Hip was a name that suggested the waistline! But ignorance is not a crime. And then there is the other lot who think that portals dealing with topics like fashion are next to pornography. Now that's where danger lurks. Sometimes it's also so easy to get caught up in the superficiality of people who think, “Fashion, but it's not important.” But the fact is, style is valuable. It is worth something. It is important. Style isn't superficial. It solves problems. It creates solutions. It adds value. It enhances your individuality and boosts your confidence.

Fashion is also really not about age though; dressing conventionally by the rules is pretty much a process towards aging. What really acts like a real anti ageing lotion is realizing the fact that fashion twists all rules to create something new and exciting. Fashion is truly a thing of personal choice and individuality rather than being forced into rigid restrictions.

It should be understood that The Hip proposes to start a new era of fashion awareness in Nepal . It is inarguably the most cherished vision of most fashion conscious people to take Nepal to a new realm of a possible fashion industry prominence.

However The Hip also serves as a platform through which many new talents may find a medium to emerge as professional models with global acceptance. It will also serve as a model management firm through which these amateur wannabe models find a potential contract to expose their talents on a much larger scale. The other important function of this site will be to display the portfolios of many fashion designers and boutique owners. This site will enable them to sell their designs and readymade products to customers worldwide.

Every Monthly issue of The Hip will feature regular columns and a wide array of new contents. This issue marks the different facets of the truth about Fashion in Nepal . Our Cover Story on Tattoo is one such example.

I would also like this opportunity to thank all those people who supported us throughout the whole process, from dream to reality and to those who deemed The Hip an impossible dream. The rest is unto God for seeing us through.

So until the next issue be fashionable and enjoy life!

Regards
